If this has been done once before, you may not need to perform all steps. You should look through this file and verify that the files are in the correct locations before completely reinstalling. If you find files missing or in different folders, make these corrections manually, restart the machine and try again. New PDA - If you already have the desktop software installed, you do not need to reinstal to add another PDA. Go to the 'Installing the files on the PDA' section of this file and follow those instructions. New Desktop - If you are changing or adding desktops to HotSync from you do not need reinstall the software on the PDA. Go to the 'Installing the files on the Desktop' section of this file and follow those instructions. I. Getting the files There are several files required for the PDA sync to work Palm Desktop- this is the software that came with the PDA PmConduit.reg woplus_conduit.reg pmConduit.jar woConduit.jar MIDP.prc pm.prc woPlus.prc These files can be obtained from us either from www.e-workordersplus.com (login, click on 'Administrative tasks', the links are at the bottom of the page) or at kresconsulting.com in the support section. (www.kresconsulting.com/support) Please contact us if you need them emailed or on CD. II. Installing the files on the Desktop **NOTE** Before changing anything please backup your files and write down any prefrence information stored in the PDA as these installations can potentially overwrite these preferences. 1. Install Palm Desktop using C:\Palm\ as the installation directory. The location is important so the other files can function. -Hotsync your PDAs and create users if neccessary. 2. Create a folder in C:\Palm\ called "woplus" (no quotes, case sensitive). Open 'My Computer' and navigate to C:\Palm\ Right-click in the window and select new/folder Enter woplus as the new name Double-click the woplus folder to open it 3. Place the files in the C:\Palm\woplus\ folder Open a second My Computer window Navigate to where the files are currently stored Select the woplus files* and drag them to the woplus folder window *The only files that are absolutely necissary to have in this folder are pmConduit.jar and woConduit.jar. We recommend keeping all of the woPlus files in this folder for consistancy. 4. Install the registry files *NOTE: Windows 9x users - use PmConduit_9x.reg and woplus_conduit_9x.reg Double click on PmConduit.reg*. A verification window will pop up asking if you want to add this file to your registry, click yes. If a second window pops up to tell you it was added successfully, click OK. Repeat this process for woplus_conduit.reg*. 5. Restart your machine to complete registry update and reset HotSync Manager III. Installing the files on the PDA (these instructions are for Palm Desktop) **NOTE** BEFORE changing anything please backup your files and write down any Work Orders Plus prefrence information stored in the PDA as these installations can potentially overwrite these preferences. 1. Make sure the desktop files are in the right locations (See above). 2. Open 'My Computer' and navigate to C:\Palm\woplus\ 3. Double click on MIDP.prc This will open the install tool. Use the ADD button to add pm.prc and woPlus.prc to the list Click done. 4. HotSync your PDA The files will be added to your PDA. 5. On the PDA in the main menu you should now see the two applications 6. Run the programs. Read and accept the licence agreements. Within preferences enter in your User, client and password information. If you don't know these, contact KRES Consulting. Now the Palm will talk directly to your database and update your workorder information each time it is hotsynced. IV. Support If Conduit throws "class not found" exception =============================================== There is a bug in the JSync installation on Windows XP. By installing Intellisync, this bug goes away. You will need to actually create a Yahoo account and Intellisync something once. After that, the JSync conduit should work correctly and you can uninstall Intellisync.
